FED Gardens

We currently maintain 31 edible gardens throughout downtown Victoria and at our satellite member locations (see map here). Educational signage now installed along Blanshard St. downtown!

We are pleased to be in partnership with LifeCycles Project Society to create an Urban Learning Garden in the courtyard of the Central Branch of the Greater Victoria Public Library. This food forward initiative is a multi-garden experiment in urban placemaking and will become a collection of mini-learning labs over the next few years.

While the supply chain of food to the island has not yet been impacted by COVID-19, the mass layoffs present a tougher challenge in the months ahead – buying fresh, healthy food.

Being the start of the growing season, there has never been a better time to start learning how to grow your own, and we are here to help!

FED will support families and laid off workers by providing home-based start up food gardens. We will gather the materials and install these starter gardens each Friday throughout Greater Victoria beginning in late April / early May for 5 months.

Our goal is to install 500 home in the region with gardens. Click the button below to find out more and get involved!

We are absolutely honoured to be living and working on the traditional territories of the Lekwungen peoples, specifically the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, whose relationship with the land continues to teach and inspire us to this day.
