A Big Thank You to Our Community

June 4, 2020

We know it’s easy to feel down right now – with COVID-19 and all that is happening in the United States, it can all be defeating at times. And while this has all been an incredibly overwhelming period to say the least, we feel it is important to take action and help out where you can, when you can.

This is why FED has created My FED Farm – an emergency response to COVID-19 that is distributing free start up food gardens kits to those disproportionately affected by this pandemic. It is our goal to reach 500 homes across Greater Victoria.

With all of this hardship it can also be helpful to take a moment to focus on things we can be grateful for, and as we take a moment to reflect on the past few months, we wanted to show our gratitude to the incredible outpouring of support we have received for this initiative.

From donating a total of 40,000 seeds and over 3,300 plant starts from the City of Victoria & other amazing community members, to providing promotion and funding, we have had so many individuals and organizations reach out to see how they could help. It is because of their generosity that we have been able to deliver 259 planters to 72 homes so far, and can continue to do so in the future. Together we are stronger and we can do this.

Be sure to check them out and show them some love!:

To help us work toward our goal of providing 500 homes with gardens, we have launched a crowdfunding campaign, where individuals and businesses have begun sponsoring My FED Farms for a person, a balcony, a family or a neighbourhood! We wanted to send a huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far.

Find out how you can sponsor your own FED Farm here.

If you are looking for other ways to support My FED Farms we are currently in need of more volunteers with vehicles to help with our garden installs. Fill out a volunteer application form here.
