fed Catalyst skills development
“I thought that it would not be possible for me to start a new farm due to finding land and figuring everything out on my own. The thought of all the steps are very overwhelming. Through the catalyst program I have the knowledge of various resource for new farmers and feel confident that I will be able to run my own farm one day.”

About the program
Our Mission
Catalyst is an integrated work experience and skills development program first launched at FED in 2025. The program combines hands-on learning, with expert knowledge sessions allowing youth and young people to feel supported in building connections and expanding their network.
In 2025, we were able to support 5 youth in paid work experience roles, and an additional 15 youth in learning sessions and hands-on experiences.
In 2026, we are expanding the capacity of our learning sessions to engage more youth and young people in the food systems community. If you are interested in the 2026 program intake please reach out or complete the intake form below.
